FL-21: Martinez & Diaz-Balart Going to Denver, Let's Debate

Posted: Aug 21, 2008

Hialeah, FL – Former Hialeah Mayor Raul Martinez, Democratic candidate for Florida’s 21st Congressional District, was pleased to read in today’s Wall Street Journal that his opponent Lincoln Diaz-Balart will be joining him in Denver for the Democratic Convention.

Since Mr. Diaz-Balart is having such trouble finding time in his schedule for a televised debate in the district, Mayor Martinez will be glad to meet him on any day and time during the convention for a televised debate.

Raul Martinez has accepted at least five invitations to debate including several that would be televised.

“It is obvious Lincoln Diaz-Balart is afraid to debate because he’ll have to explain why he takes campaign cash in exchange for bad votes that increase the cost of healthcare and the price of gas,” said Martinez Communications Director Aaron Blye.

Diaz-Balart was a no-show for a May debate planned by the South Florida AFL-CIO, and he continues to duck invitations to debate.
