Diaz-Balart Silent on Debate with Mayor Martinez
Posted: Aug 05, 2008Hialeah, FL(Immediate Release) –Congressman Lincoln Diaz-Balart has not yet agreed to debate former Hialeah Mayor Raul Martinez in the race to represent Florida’s 21st congressional district. Both candidates were sent an invitation by Univision on July 23, and Mayor Martinez promptly agreed to the October 1 debate
"South Floridians need solutions to lower the cost of healthcare and gas, and get us out of Iraq," said Mayor Martinez. "It is unfortunate that Lincoln does not think it’s a priority to participate in a substantive discussion on the issues."
Diaz-Balart was a no-show for a May debate planned by the South Florida AFL-CIO, and he continues to duck invitations to debate.
The constituents of District 21 deserve a Congressman who addresses the issues they face every single day, not someone who is afraid to debate
