The Rothenberg Political Reportan independent, non-partisan newsletter that analyzes campaigns, today moved Raul Martinez's race in Florida's 21st Congressional District from "Lean Republican" to “Pure Toss Up." The race's inclusion as one of only ten races in the country ranked as “Pure Toss Up" signifies that this race is highly competitive.
“Mayor Martinez has fought for the people in his community all of his life and will take on the important issues that his opponent has failed to address despite sixteen years in Washington," said Martinez's Communications Director Aaron Blye. “Non-partisan political analysts see that Lincoln Diaz-Balart has been a rubberstamp for President Bush's failed policies and that Mayor Martinez has the ability to bring positive change to South Florida."
Rothenberg added the FL-21 race to his list in July as “Lean Republican." Professional political analysts such as The Rothenberg Political Report, The Cook Political Report and CQ Politicshave repeatedly upgraded this race, and all view the contest as highly competitive.
