Martinez's fundraising outpaces Diaz-Balart's
Posted: Apr 10, 2008Former Hialeah Mayor Raul Martinez raised over $615,000 in just seventy days of fundraising.
Raul Martinez, the former Mayor of Hialeah and current Democratic candidate for Congress, raised over $615,000 in the first quarter of 2008. The Mayor received contributions from more than 800 individual donors.“I am genuinely humbled by the support that I have received during the past two months. It is more apparent than ever that people are ready for change.”
With 52% of campaign contributions coming from registered Republicans, Mayor Martinez has once again demonstrated that he is able and willing to work across party lines. The Mayor’s bipartisan appeal is part of the reason why he has raised more money during the past two months than all but one challenging congressional candidate in the country.
“This early success does not mean however, that we can sit back and rest. Our work has just begun. We need your continued support so that we can build upon this success and guarantee we have the resources we'll need to deliver our message to the residents of District 21.”
The Mayor’s fundraising success also affirms the fact that voters are drawn to his message. The residents of District 21 are looking for true leadership to face the issues most important to them such as the current economic downturn, skyrocketing gas and diesel prices, the endless war in Iraq and fixing problems with Social Security and Medicare. When elected, Raul Martinez will work in a bipartisan way in Congress to address these issues for his constituents.
