Diaz-Balart Ends Negotiations, Won't Debate on CBS4
Posted: Sep 29, 2008Hialeah, FL – After continuously lying about the existence of a televised debate on CBS4, Lincoln Diaz-Balart has ended negotiations. The Martinez Campaign proposed several dates in October for a debate on CBS4 but Lincoln refused those dates.
Mayor Martinez would still like to find a date that both candidates can debate on CBS4 but CBS4 has decided to tape separate interviews.
Lincoln has not been honest in this process. The proof is that there were several outstanding invitations from other stations for months which have either been rejected or not responded to by Lincoln, while CBS4 just recently tried to put a debate together. Lincoln told WPLG Local 10 that he would not debate on their station, and there have been outstanding invitations from Maria Elvira Live on Mega TV and A Mano Limpia con Oscar Haza on América TeVé for several months that Lincoln has not responded to. Each of these debates was proposed before the CBS4 debate.
Lincoln's lie about the existence of a CBS4 debate was caught by the SunPost newspaper who reported "…neither Ileana Ros-Lehtinen nor the Diaz-Balart brothers, Lincoln and Mario, has thus far accepted an invitation to debate anyone, unless you count Lincoln's acceptance of an invitation from CBS, which was never even extended in the first place." WPLG-10's Michael Putney has called it "indisputable" that Diaz-Balart has "found all kinds of reasons not to debate."
