Raul Martinez, the former Mayor of Hialeah, Florida today called for the United States Government to temporarily lift restrictions on travel and remittances to Cuba for 90 days to allow Cubans living in the U.S. to help their family members who are suffering. According to media reports, about 100,000 houses, schools and workplaces were damaged by Hurricane Gustav, and at least 6,000 homes are considered beyond repair. Several other storms are gathering and there is a high probability that Cuba may be hit again before the hurricane season ends on November 30.
