CUBA
Cuba Embargo: Mayor Raul Martinez will not lift the US Embargo on Cuba, until the Cuban government gives the Cuban people the rights and freedoms they deserve. Including the freeing of political prisoners and dissidents and holding free and fair elections.
Family Travel: Family reunification is first and foremost a moral issue. Visiting one’s family is a right. Our government should encourage family reunification, not interfere with it. Mayor Martinez also believes that everyone has the right to visit their family and provide them with financial assistance if they are in need. Helping our loved ones and those in need is not just humane; it’s the American way.
Money to dissidents: Raul is an advocate for increasing the amount of funding that goes to dissidents in Cuba. These individuals are working for change and are willing to risk their lives to bring democracy to Cuba. However, before future funds are disbursed, Raul will require an accountability report that will detail where all current and past funds have been invested. Raul will also make sure that federal funds that have been appropriated for this purpose actually reach the dissidents in Cuba.
